Meat Stick FAQ: Everything You Need to Know (And More)

Let’s be honest– it doesn’t matter if the food is better for you if it doesn’t taste amazing (we’re looking at you, traditional meat sticks). Singing Pastures Craft Meat Sticks are yummier, healthier, and, well, better in every way. Keep reading to learn how our meat sticks are made, why they’re the healthiest meat sticks in the game, and even if you can safely munch on them while preggo (spoiler alert: the answer is yes). Let’s dive in!

How Are Meat Sticks Made?

We get it. The whole process of making meat snacks can seem a little, well, “industrial.” But trust us, the right brands (like us) keep it clean, healthy, and unbelievably tasty. Our meat sticks are made from lean cuts of pasture-raised pork or grass-fed beef that are seasoned with spices and slow-cooked to perfection. The goal is to lock in the flavor while maintaining that perfect, satisfying tenderness. So, no, there’s nothing industrial here – just premium protein you’ll actually want to eat again and again.

What’s the Shelf Life of the Sticks?

Your Craft Meat Sticks are good for one year from manufacture. Always check the “best by” date on the package. Our Craft Meat Sticks are made shelf-stable thanks to the fermentation and slow smoking process, which is the traditional way to preserve meat. They’re not invincible, (don’t stick them in a hot car in the summer for a month!) Keep them in a cool, dry place for optimal snacking.

What Meat Sticks Are Healthy? (Spoiler Alert: The Ones That Don’t Taste Like Leather)

Not all meat sticks are created equal. Other brands pack in nasty preservatives, excess sodium, and artificial stuff that will leave you feeling sluggish. Not our sticks– We’re talking meat sticks made with simple, whole ingredients. When shopping for meat sticks, search for options that are low in sugar, free from artificial trans fats, and high in protein. Might we suggest trying these out.

Are Meat Sticks Gluten-Free? (We Are!)

If you’re gluten-free, we’ve got your back. While we’re not certified gluten-free, our meat sticks are naturally gluten-free because, let’s face it, gluten has no business hanging out in your meat snack. If you’re eating other brands, make sure to double-check the label in case they’ve snuck in ingredients like malt vinegar or wheat-based fillers. Pro tip: Stick with meat sticks that don’t overcomplicate things with unnecessary additives.

Are Meat Sticks Minimally Processed? (Ours are!)

All meat sticks are processed, shelf-stable, and ready-to-eat. Here’s the difference with our sticks. We use traditional processing — fermentation and slow cooking with real hickory wood. In fact, we cook our sticks for 16 hours, more than twice as long as leading brands. Many of those other meat sticks are highly, highly processed and use encapsulated acids (containing partially hydrogenated oils), and liquid smoke. Even sticks with lofty health claims can also be highly processed and manufactured. Skip that altogether. Singing Pastures Craft Meat Sticks are all about natural ingredients, slow-cooked deliciousness, and insane taste. That means no junk, no shortcuts, and no fake ingredients. Ever. Just clean protein on the go– the way snacks should be.

Are Meat Sticks Safe for Pregnancy? (Preggo-Approved, Baby!)

Pregnancy cravings are a real thing, and while we can’t promise they’ll compete with the… let’s call it creativity… behind your wildest midnight snack, meat sticks are actually a fantastic option if you’re expecting. They’re packed with protein and macros to nourish both of you. Just make sure to pick a brand (read: Singing Pastures) that’s free of nitrates, nitrites, and other processed additives that aren’t great for you or your little one. Always talk to your doctor if you’re unsure about any snack, though! Congrats, mama <3

Are Protein Snacks Good for You?

Protein snacks, like our beloved meat sticks, are an amazing choice if you’re looking to curb hunger and fuel your body with something nutrient-dense. Whether you’re hitting the gym or just need a midday pick-me-up, protein snacks help maintain muscle mass, keep you feeling fuller for longer, and stabilize your blood sugar. So yes, protein snacks are definitely good for you as long as you choose the right ones.

Are Protein Snacks Good for Diabetics, Patients Undergoing Treatment, or Ozempic Users?

Alright, let’s break this down. If you’re diabetic, protein snacks can be a smart choice since they help stabilize your blood sugar and keep those insulin spikes in check. For those undergoing treatment, it’s important to prioritize nourishing protein. And for those on Ozempic (or similar medications), Singing Pastures Craft Meat Sticks are an excellent option to boost your protein and collagen intake, because our sticks are made with premium meat, grass-fed bone broth (which contains naturally occurring collagen) and grass-fed beef collagen powder. Tasty and nutritious — we’ve got you covered.

Do you source all the meat at Singing Pastures’ farm?

At one point we did, but that is no longer possible as we grow. Our grass-fed and finished beef is from Australia, where conditions are ideal for raising cattle entirely on pasture. Our pork is antibiotic free, certified humane and raised in the USA.
